I went to pick up a pizza yesterday evening.
The cheerful young women behind the desk asked if I’d had a good weekend. I said we’d just been to a concert of Indonesian gamelan music. She got quite excited.
“I’m from Indonesia. I didn’t know there was an orchestra in Adelaide.” I showed her a photo on my phone.
“How come you’re interested in gamelan?” she asked. I pointed to one of the players. “Because that’s my daughter”.
She was astonished and delighted. “Here, please give this to her as a present” she said, and handed over a large bottle of no-sugar Coca Cola.
