Five generations of self-set cherry toms. Pix taken on this day, 5 years apart. Original seedlings planted in 2017, have re-appeared every year since.
And anyone know what these mystery toms are? Like all my toms this year, they were self-set from seeds in the compost. They are cherry-sized. As they ripen, the top changes colour first, going from green to an aubergine black, then the bottom half begins to turn red. A couple of years ago I grew some heritage black tomatoes but they were regular greengrocer size. Could they have cross-pollinated with ordinary cherry toms somewhere along the line?
