Charles who?

Fascinated by the news ticker across the bottom of the TV screen referring to King Charles III postponing his trip to France, because if they only put “King Charles” we might not know who they are talking about.

Because, as you know, in January 1649, two years after his escape from detention in Hampton Court, King Charles I had to postpone his proposed visit to France indefinitely as a result of his being beheaded.

Or maybe we might have thought they meant King Charles II who possibly postponed a visit to his cousin Louis XIV of France in 1685 by reason of his suffering an apoplectic fit and dying four days later.
